Inter-Club Snooker

Rush finished third in the league in a very tight finish. Dun Laoghaire Gentlemans Club won in a play off with Skerries, with Rush having missed out on the final by two frames. The presenation was held on Saturday 17 April 2010 in the Dun Laoghaire Club which is celebrating their Centenary in 2010. Sutton Lawn Tennis Club won the wooden spoon, an honour that Rush has escaped in the past six years. Congratulations to the team and the team captains Jerry Murtagh and Michael Moore.

Rush SC Snooker team are on the look out for new talent for the 2010/2011 season. Stephen Harford and Peter Warren were both in the running for player of the League and we were the only Club with two players in contention for this award, which went eventually to Tony Byrne in Dun Laoghaire.


Booking the Snooker Table

Each member of the Sailing Club is entitled to book the snooker table either for a singles or double game on Wednesday and Friday nights. The same time cannot be booked twice in succession. In order to encourage existing and new members to play snooker a limit of 30 minutes has been introduced for singles games and 45 minutes for doubles games. A booking diary is available in the snooker club for this purpose.


Rush Sailing Club – Snooker Committee

The Snooker Committee is responsible for the day to day regulation of snooker activities at the club subject to the general approval of the Executive Committee. The Committee comprises Michael Redmond (Chairman), Gerry Murtagh (Inter-Club Snooker Captain), Michael Moore (Inter-Club Snooker Vice Captain), and Peter Warren.

Men’s Club Competitions

Men’s competitions are held from time to time and will be notified in advance.


Junior Snooker

On the first Sunday of each month from 5 pm to 8.30 p.m. the snooker room has been reserved for Junior Members (aged 13 – 17) under adult supervision.


Inter-Club Rules

1 Eight (8) Players per team. No player may play twice in the same match.
2 Matches consist of three (3) doubles and two (2) singles of one (1) frame each.
3 One (1) point awarded for each frame won.
4 Team sheets to be exchanged prior to start of first match.
5 Matches to be played on or as near to the dates specified above. Cancelled or deferred matches to be advised to the co-ordinator for the rearrangement of same. Ten days advance notice of change to co-ordinator & opposing captain.
6 One player only to approach the table within a reasonable time following the previous player i.e. no conferring.
7 Miss rule not applicable. Referee must be satisfied that a genuine attempt has been made to escape from the hazard.
8 In the event of a tie, a one match play off to be arranged at a neutral venue. Date to be arranged after League end.
9 Disputes must be submitted in writing to a committee comprising of the captains of the clubs not involved in the dispute. Their decision is binding.
10 Results to be relayed by the home captain by following fixture to Inter-Club Co-Ordinator (Skerries Captain 2008/9)
11 Where a club has two tables available the first and second match can be played simultaneously and then one table is used for the remaining matches except as agreed by the visiting team.
